Emergency lighting is very useful for locating the exit of a building during a power outage or other form of emergency. Emergency lights are usually powered by batteries, and they work properly even when the power is exhausted, but you must check the batteries regularly to make sure they are working properly. Emergency lighting is only useful if it is well maintained and the lamp should always be fitted with new batteries. If you have a suitable replacement battery, you can quickly replace the emergency light battery. The Emergency Light Manufacturers explains the replacement of the emergency light battery:
Find the emergency light battery box on the lamp. The exit sign usually places the compartment in the space directly above the word "exit".
Manually open the compartment or unscrew it with a screwdriver, depending on your personal light.
If the cable is bundled, pull the harness out of the battery. Otherwise, the battery is just wedged on the lead; simply pop it up.
Insert the new battery into the harness, then reinsert the battery into the battery compartment, or snap the new battery to the power cord.
Replace the cover and press the Test button on the light to verify that the battery is working and that the light is on.
